What is a ketogenic diet?
A ketogenic diet consists of a very low carbs, high fat diet. It involves reducing carb intake replacing it with fats. With having a reduction in carbs, it forces our body to go into a metabolic state called ketosis.
Benefits of Keto diet?
As a result, our body becomes extremely efficient at burning fat for us to use an energy. As well as this, it turns fat into ketones in the liver, which supply energy for the brain. The keto diets can cause substantial reductions in our blood sugar and insulin levels. This, along with the increased ketones, has many health benefits.
Different types of ketogenic diets
Standard ketogenic diet (SKD): This involves a very low carb, moderate protein, and high fat diet. It usual contains 70% fat, 20% protein, and 10% carbs
Cyclical ketogenic diet (CKD): This diet involves periods of very low carb intake such as, 5 ketogenic days followed by 2 high carb days.
High protein ketogenic diet:  This diet is identical to a standard ketogenic diet but includes more protein. Which is usually 60% fat, 35% protein, and 5% carbs.
